Middle School

Our Middle School program was developed to enable students to participate in an even more accelerated curriculum and gain admittance into the high school of their choice. It provides an excellent educational opportunity for early adolescents to master academic skills, acquire concepts, and strive towards their personal best in a close-knit family environment. All students are encouraged to develop a love of learning. They grow in knowledge while working cooperatively in an environment that emphasizes achievement, the development of problem solving skills, and the ability to think critically and creatively.

Our middle school teachers provide an environment which facilitates cooperative and interactive learning, hands-on projects, and provides for varied assessment while actively integrating technology in most aspects of the learning process. The students are taught by their teachers to become technologically adept, effective problem solvers, clear communicators, researchers, and self-motivated learners. Classes are taught in a smaller environment with an emphasis on personal teacher attention.

The instructional education program offered in the middle school grades includes Art, Algebra, Creative Arts, Geometry, Grammar, Literature, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, Technology, United States Government and History, and World History.

Technology is integrated throughout the middle school curriculum. Each middle school student has his or her own school-issued iPad with keyboard that is used in all subjects. Word processing skills, presentation development, and publishing and spreadsheet creation are all taught in our Technology Lab and implemented in the classroom. Students also explore animation, website design, movie editing, and simple video game creation. Cross-curricular projects are another part of our middle school Technology program.

Our middle school students can participate in a wide range of experiences from out-of-state trips, Student Council, community service, formal events, team-building, to productions of Shakespearean plays. These additional experiences help our student become well-rounded, mature young people.

Along with our comprehensive Physical Education program, team sports are included as an after school enrichment activity. Our coed teams participate as part of the United Spirit League. The four sports offered throughout the school year include soccer, flag football, basketball, and softball.

Students from our Middle School program are successful students in college preparatory high schools around the Valley. We have alumni excelling at Notre Dame Preparatory, Brophy College Preparatory, and Xavier College Preparatory. El Dorado alumni have also attended prestigious universities such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Notre Dame University, Dartmouth College, Duke University, Texas Christian University, Southern Methodist University, Baylor University, and many other colleges and universities.

Through El Dorado's innovative and comprehensive curriculum, your child will be well prepared for the academic challenges of high school.
