Our Technology Awareness program for our younger students offers educational software programs in our Mac Lab, as well as math, language, computer literacy, and creative learning skills applications on classroom iPads. Preschool students gain basic computer knowledge through computer feature manipulation and exploration.
Technology is integrated into our our kindergarten and elementary curriculums with the use of SmartBoards and iPads in each classroom. Class sets of iPads are available for all kindergarten and elementary grades and are an integral learning tool for each of our students. Technology supports literacy and encourages speaking, reading, writing, and listening through formal and informal language opportunities. The students will use tools such as digital cameras, scanners, and computer software to show information, create stories and pictures, and build graphs.
Technology is also woven throughout the middle school curriculum. Each middle school student has his or her own school-issued iPad that is used in all subjects. Word processing skills, presentation development, and publishing and spreadsheet creation is all taught in our Technology Lab and implemented in the classroom. Students also explore animation, website design, movie editing, and simple video game creation.
The Technology classes are designed to integrate technology with what children are learning in their primary classrooms by all teachers working together to achieve a successful melding of curriculums. Technology projects and activities generally correlate with what students are studying in their primary classrooms.
