The following are breakdowns of class curriculums by grade level, including class hours and the number of students per each teacher.

Early Bird Three Year Old Class

This new program is designed for children who turn three between September 1st and December 31st and are potty-trained.

 

The Early Bird program focuses on social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. These skills are developed by the students' exploration in various art, computer, dramatic play, library, sensory and manipulative centers.

Preschool

There is nothing more important in the world than your child and how he or she develops, learns, adapts and grows in our ever-changing society. El Dorado Private School takes pride in offering a wide variety of educational experiences and learning opportunities that will enhance your child's life.

Our teachers are experienced, happy educators who place emphasis on the many facets a preschooler's inquisitive mind needs in these formative years. The Three Year Old curriculum includes development of language skills through appropriate expressions of feelings, opportunities for social interaction and introduction to a wide variety of new concepts.

Your child will love El Dorado's creative and delightful introduction to letter recognition through inventive movement experiences, make-believe and puppetry.

Hands-on math awareness encourages your child to explore spatial relationships, sensory experiences and an introduction to number recognition and identifying, sorting and matching colors and shapes. Daily activities are designed to foster your child's positive self-awareness, social skills, reasoning, coordination skills and creativity.

Kindergarten

El Dorado's Kindergarten curriculum involves a comprehensive program in Language & Literacy and Math, including individualized reading, phonics, spelling, creative writing, handwriting, numbers through 100, math concepts with addition and subtraction, telling time, measuring, coin recognition and value.

The curriculum features thematic units in which our students are able to explore the areas of Science and Social Studies. The students participate in hands-on activities utilizing art projects, dramatic plays, cooking, science experiments and community interaction. Basic Spanish and Computer awareness skills are also included in the curriculum.

Learning is fun! El Dorado teaches a myriad of social skills through physical education, music and rhythm band, creative art and messy media! Our Kindergarten children are delighted with this positive and creative environment. They love to learn about our world and its many interesting subjects from past to present.

Primary Grades (1st - 3rd Grade)


Our Primary Grades individualized, comprehensive program offers a wide variety of studies and activities to prepare your child for higher education, flexible learning experiences have been designed to meet the changing needs of our individual students. Specific areas of study include Language & Literacy, Reading Comprehension, Creative Writing, Spelling, Math, Science & Computer Skills.

 

All of these programs are taught using a wide variety of methodologies, such as thematic units, multi-media, problem-solving strategies, pattern detection, experimental concept exploration, real-time practice of skills, group instruction and the use of current computer technologies. El Dorado's degreed teachers are dedicated to making learning a positive and self-motivating experience for your child.

Through Social Studies, Music, Spanish and Art, our students gain an understanding of a variety of cultures and customs from around the world. Through Physical Education and Health, your child will learn to develop body management and have a good attitude toward physical fitness, develop positive self-esteem and will identify various similarities and differences among people of the world. Your child will also participate in the Presidential Physical Fitness Program.

Intermediate Grades (4th - 5th Grade)


Our Intermediate Grades individualized program has been designed to provide a compelling hands-on environment with projects through direct involvement and emphasis on decision making. Language & Literacy, Reading, Writing, Grammar, Spelling and Research Skills are developed through advanced methods of teaching. Reading comprehension and critical thinking skills are emphasized.


Our Mathematics instruction focuses on accelerated development of skills which include fractions and decimals, writing mathematical sentences to represent a situation, ratios and proportions, geometric principles and proper usage of protractors, calculators and compasses.

Our Science curriculum includes observation and use of critical thinking skills. Social Studies include map and globe skills, historical figures, understanding a variety of cultures and individual rights within a democratic society. United States and World History are also taught extensively throughout the program. Computer skills are increased using keyboarding, word processing, presentation, desktop publishing and spreadsheet programs. Physical Education provides these students the opportunity for a positive attitude and development of body management skills. Foreign Language, Music and Art Appreciation provide the Intermediate students with an opportunity for enrichment activities.

Middle School (6th - 8th Grade)


Our Middle School program was developed to enable students to participate in an even more accelerated curriculum and gain admittance into the finest private high schools in the Valley. It provides an excellent educational opportunity for early adolescents to help them master academic skills, acquire concepts and strive towards their personal best in a close-knit family environment.

The teachers provide an environment which facilitates cooperative and interactive learning, hands-on projects and provides for varied assessment while actively integrating technology in most aspects of the learning process, with each student having an individual computer directly in the classroom. The students are taught by their teachers to become technologically adept, effective problem solvers, communicators, researchers and self-motivated learners.

The instructional education program offered in the Middle School classes includes: Art, Computers, English, Grammar, Geography, Literature, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, and United States Government and History. These classes are taught in a personalized environment with an emphasis on personal teacher attention. A comprehensive extracurricular sports program is included as an after school activity.
